Cash first — konbini ATM
You're low (~¥4,000) and today is cash-only: temple entries, four goshuin, the hanko deposit and the taxi all want cash. Pull ~¥15–20,000 (covers tomorrow too) at a 7-Eleven (Seven Bank) or Lawson / FamilyMart ATM by Nijo before you tap in — foreign cards work, English menu, 24/7. Uji has far fewer machines, so do it now.

Basin heat · the tail of tsuyu

Kyoto sits in a basin and holds the heat — late June runs 26–31°C, humid, with the rainy season still trailing off (which is exactly why Mimuroto-ji's hydrangeas are at their peak). Carry a fold-up umbrella, a hat, and water; the dawn Fushimi start is partly to dodge the worst afternoon heat. Temples mean a lot of stone steps — comfortable shoes.

Field reference — the small but useful things

Vermilion for the torii, gold leaf for the Big Day and the Golden Pavilion, matcha for the gardens — and the deep maroon of a temple gate holds it all together. Tap the goshuinchō tracker as you go; it remembers.
